Message from the Clinician UHS
University Health Services was established with the following clear mandates:
1. To provide health care services: curative, preventive as well as
rehabilitative services.
2. To advise on health matters generally to the university community.
In furtherance of these functions, university has set up outpatient department
facilities for both students and staff (together with their dependents) at
Kisumu campus. The clinic is fully manned by qualified, competent,
experienced human resource for health of all cadres.
The clinic operates 8 hours a day with free access to medical emergency care
services to both outpatient care at University Health Services facilities and
24 hours for inpatient care at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and
Referral hospital.
University Health Services Kisumu Campus has a Clinical officer as its
Clinical and Administrative head, who is answerable to the Chief Medical
Officer, who is both the Clinical and administrative head of the entire
University of Nairobi Health services. The Chief Medical Officer, best as known
as CMO, is supported by two deputies, one in charge of student health and
the other in-charge of staff health and administration.
